Wine Museum of Macau

The Wine Museum is a 1400 square meter structure divided into a number of areas: Historical information, Wine Cellar, Museum and Exhibits. Using maps, text placards, photography, tiles, and videos among other things, this museum portrays the elaborate history of wine not just as it relates to Macau but as a whole. The aim of each section of the museum is to not only provide information regarding wine and grapevines, but to recreate the atmosphere of it’s production, showing the visitor both modern and traditional tools connected to wine production as it’s been performed throughout history.

One of the main objectives of this museum is to bring guests into contact with the social, economical, and cultural importance of wine particularly in Portuguese culture, traditions, daily life, and celebratory ceremonies.

The Museum houses roughly 1143 different brands of wine: 1115 Portuguese brands, and 28 Chinese brands. From the 1115 Portuguese wine brands, there are 756 commercial wines, and 359 special collection wines, the Port 1815 being the oldest in their collection. It’s collections covers the different regions of Portugal and also presents examples of wine production in the People’s Republic of China. All varieties of wine are accompanied by a brief description of its significance to the collection.

There are also various collections of mannequins wearing the various regional costumes from Portuguese tradition on display.
