Built on the site of the Macao Handover Ceremony of the Sino-Portuguese Governments, the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao exhibits the handover gifts exchanged during the 1999 exchange of Macau to the Chinese. This is the site where the sovereignty of Macau was handed over to the Chinese from the Portuguese thus creating the modern Macau Special Administrative Region.
Inside the museum, visitors can see the auspicious gifts offered by the 56 ethnics to celebrate the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region. These gifts were well designed with the nation’s unique artistic regional styles and present the best wishes of the ethnic groups to Macao’s prosperity and fortuitous future.
