Archive Center of Macau
The Archive Center of Macau contains many books, letters and manuscripts all related to Portugal’s exploration and it’s relationship with Macau. The archive also depicts Macau’s relationship with Europe, China, Japan and Southeast Asia with a veritable collection of governmental, civic, ecclesiastic and private sources, all housed at the Archive Center. The most valuable of documents have been put on microfilm, including 7500 items dating from 1587 to 1786 in order to preserve their historical integrity.
The archives can be found in the houses of one of the mansions on Avenida de Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida restored by the Macao Government in their original colonial style which won the Pacific Area Travel Association’s Heritage Award, in 1982.
